Bringing Light and Refinement to The Oval: Our Bespoke Glazing Contribution at Kia Oval

Over the past year, Surrey County Cricket Club has taken modernisation to the next level with the completion of a significant redesign of its legendary Kia Oval stadium in London. As part of this redevelopment, including the expansion of the Bedser Stand and state-of-the-art dressing rooms designed by Populous and delivered by Artelia, we were proud to contribute our technical glazing expertise to the project.

A Precise Glazing Requirement

The Kia Oval is one of the most historic cricket grounds in world cricket, and underwent a transformation. With sweeping views over the pitch and London skyline, glazing needed to deliver panoramic clarity, thermal performance, and aesthetic finesse.

We were commissioned to supply and install high-performance bespoke glazing to complement the Populous-designed spaces, and our work included installing multiple windows around the stadium. Working closely with everyone involved, we developed glazing solutions that balanced form and function, offering clear views onto the pitch, daylight-filled interiors, and acoustic separation.

 

Challenges & Solutions

Despite the challenges encountered, we implemented practical solutions and delivered the glazing installation on time and on budget.

  • Tight timetable: Construction was phased. Our glazing was delivered and installed on time within the project requirements.
  • Durability & cleanability: Given heavy use, glazing surfaces were finished with low-maintenance coatings and flush frame interfaces for ease of upkeep during high-volume team use.

A Venue Ready for Elite Sport

The new area now features glazing supply by Bespoke Aluminium Manufacture, and is designed and installed by us, which matches the quality of the architecture while meeting robust performance demands. The result is glazing that aligns perfectly with Populous’s design vision, all delivered on programme under Artelia’s phase-controlled construction plan.
